Monthly retail and tourism economic update
The monthly commentary has been altered to align with the Quarterly Economic Outlook publication and will mostly focus on Manawatu region data (Palmerston North City plus Manawatu District).
Included are comparisons between Manawatu District and Palmerston North City where there is a divergence between the two areas. In some cases only Palmerston North data is available, such as the commercial accommodation survey data on visitor origin. Palmerston North's share of the Manawatu region data is:
73% of the Manawatu Region population
84% of employment
88% of core and total retail sales
89% of guest nights in commercial accommodation
