Ministry of Science and Innovation (MSI) investment is focused on growing the number of world-class New Zealand companies through the creation and commercialisation of innovative technology. MSI invests in companies who have the aspiration and opportunity to grow and become internationally competitive.
BCC is your gateway to MSI investment in research and development.
R&D Project Investment
- Project investment provides support for companies to undertake R & D projects to develop new technology products, processes or services.
- MSI generally provide funding of up to 50% of R & D project costs.
- Investments will be made in a range of sectors. Companies must have the desire to innovate and grow through R & D.
How it works:
MSI project investment contributes to the costs of technically challenging R&D projects and is available to companies at all stages of growth; from early-stage to mature companies across all sectors.
Initial funding can be provided to prove the feasibility of technically developing a product. Further funding can be provided to complete the R&D.
MSI does not take an equity stake in a company it invests in, and these companies are not normally required to pay back any of the funding they receive.
The BCC will:
- help you identify opportunities for R&D investment
- provide advice and assistance on managing your R&D projects
- advise on eligibility requirements
- assist you through the application process
- continue to assist you throughout your project
MSI have a range of R&D funding products and services to support businesses to grow through innovation.
Each year, more than 500 New Zealand businesses undertake R&D projects with the support of MSI and grow their R&D capability.
